The rain let up just as the children were set to scamper across the civic center lawn for the annual Easter Egg Hunt April 11. The egg hunt was set up by the Boy Scout Troop 220.

On the opening day of the Key Peninsula Little League’s season April 11, KP Lions’ catcher Mason Hyde tags out Taylor (Tater Tot) Youk of the Classic Interiors team. The KP Lions’ team is coached by Jim Hyde and Classic Interiors is coached by Don Matison.

At KP’s Volunteer Park, KPLL sponsor and owner of Purdy Cost Less Drugs, Don Zimmerman threw out the ceremonial first pitch of the season to Brittney Surrat of the SB Custom Woodcrafts senior softball team, coached by Otto Jensen.

Vaughn Elementary School 3rd and 5th graders, Olivia Ramirez and Mackenzie Mills respectively, paint fresh stripes on the Key Peninsula Civic Center parking lot on KP Metro Parks Appreciation Day because our brothers, Boy Scouts with Troop 220, are volunteering and we wanted to help too.
