KP photos wanted for book publication
The Key Peninsula News plans to publish a coffee-table-style book celebrating the Key Peninsula’s beauty and people. The book is a fundraiser for the nonprofit newspaper, and will help rebuild a contingency fund.
The book, tentatively titled “Celebrating the Key Peninsula,” will include mostly photographs as well as some editorial content. Chapters will include history, local communities (from Wauna to Longbranch), “cruising the KP,” people and diversity, rural lifestyles (including farms and pets), the arts, recreation, landscapes, festivals and events, as well as “a visit to our neighbors,” Gig Harbor, Allyn/Victor and South Kitsap. We welcome contributions from the community of high-quality, high-resolution photographs. There is no payment for published photos but all contributors will receive publication credit. Submission does not guarantee publication—only the best photos will be selected. We must have model releases for all photos showing easily identifiable subjects; all photographers will also be asked to sign a release form. The KP News does not retain copyrights of the work, other than requesting a non-exclusive, one-time publication license. If you are only submitting up to 5 photos, you may email them to news@keypennews.com (no more than 7MB total attachments per email, please!). CD submissions are best, and may be dropped off at our office at 17010 S. Vaughn Road in Vaughn (between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., or leave in the outside drop box after hours), or mailed to PO Box 3, Vaughn WA 98394 (attention, photo editor). Prints are accepted as well. Submissions will not be mailed, but can be picked up if requested in advance.
Estimated publication is this summer, and exact timeline depends on our ability to secure grants and sponsorships for printing/production costs. Donations and sponsorships are welcome! For questions about photo submissions or financial contributions, email Rodika Tollefson, news@keypennews.com, or call 253-884-4699. |
