The Real Life Blue Easter Bunny

The Blue Easter Bunny has been giving away candy at the Boy Scout Easter egg hunt for 35 years.

It all began with a rummage sale where Kathy Best bought a suit of turquoise blue fleece-footed pajamas, just right for a women’s retreat she was to attend, she thought. She found it was too warm to sleep in, so on returning home, decided to turn it into a bunny costume.

There’s a New Gardener in Town

The Two Waters Arts Alliance has been bringing artistic instruction and experiences to Key Peninsula schools since 2001, and the program continues to expand.

The Nygards’ 65 Years

Harry and Marge Nygard celebrated 65 years of marriage in November 2016. They are one of the longest-married couples on the Key Peninsula.

He was raised in Rochester and she in Wenatchee, but they met when both attended Stadium High School in Tacoma.
“We left Wenatchee when I was 10,” Marge said, “and Harry moved to Tacoma when he was 14 or 15.” She learned who he was when she reached high school, as Harry was one of the star athletes. Harry graduated in 1946, Marge in 1949.

Burned Memorial Bench Replaced at PHS

Peninsula High School personnel, students and the community at large were shocked by the destruction by arson of a memorial bench honoring former counselor Colleen Blauvelt by a yet-unknown person on Sept. 26.

The Key Peninsula Lutheran Church is adding a new event to its annual Christmas bazaar Nov. 19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., to bring community together and support nonprofits in the area.

Camp Stand By Me Pool Reopened

The swimming pool at Camp Stand By Me, closed for nearly a year, is open again with many improvements. Most are out of sight but important, said camp Director Joshua Mayer.
